Introduction to Jain Mandir Sanghiji

Shri Digamber Jain Atishaya Kshetra Mandir, Sanghiji in Sanganer is one of Rajasthan’s oldest Jain temples, known for its miraculous powers and unique architecture. This Atishaya Kshetra, or “Place of Miracles,” is a sacred destination for Jain devotees and tourists alike.

About Sanganer

Sanganer, located around 13-14 km south of Jaipur on National Highway 12 (Kota – Jaipur Road), is a historic town in Rajasthan. The Jain Mandir Sanghiji is the crown jewel of this town, showcasing an ancient architectural style, with the final construction phase completed in the 10th century A.D. An inscription from V.S. 1011 on one of its toranas (gateways) highlights its historical significance.

Temple Structure and Architecture

The temple is renowned for its Principal Deity Lord Adinath (Rishabh Dev), the first Tirthankar, with an idol that is believed to be over 4000 years old. The temple structure is made entirely of red stone and features intricate carvings, reminiscent of the famous Dilwara Temples of Mount Abu. With eight towering shikharas (pinnacles), this seven-story temple is a spectacular sight.

Miraculous Underground Shrine

Within the temple’s underground section lies a small ancient shrine guarded by yakshas (celestial beings). Only celibate Digamber Jain ascetics, who possess spiritual steadfastness, are believed to enter this shrine for limited periods, bringing out sacred idols for darshan (viewing) before returning them to the shrine at auspicious times—an awe-inspiring miracle and unique aspect of Jain Mandir Sanghiji.

Main Temple & Idols

The inner shrine showcases three pinnacles and intricate stone carvings, especially around the main entrance, which echo the artistry of the Dilwara Temples. The shrine’s centerpiece is a captivating idol of Lord Parshwanath with seven serpent hoods, accompanied by two additional idols of Lord Parshwanath on either side. Numerous other beautiful idols are also housed within this temple.

Annual Gatherings

The temple hosts an annual celebration on the second Sunday of Ashwin month each year, attracting pilgrims and devotees from across India.

Visitor Facilities

The temple’s rest house offers 25 standard rooms and 15 deluxe rooms, along with a mess known as Shri Adinath Bhojanalaya. Amenities like utensils, bedding, and tents are also available for visitors.
